Welcome and Introduction

Our activities centre primarily around teaching of violin, viola, piano and theory with the objective of progressing through the various stages of The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Examinations. Although examinations are not essential many pupils find that this establishes a course of progression with the added rewards of achieving recognised diplomas.

There really is no age limit to when to start or maybe pick up something that was perhaps abandoned during the “distractions” of study, work, parenthood or just had no time. Pupils in fact range from tiny tots of 5 years or less to Senior Citizens, from absolute beginners to those soon to possibly move on to a career in music.

About Round House Music

Felicity Fratter-Davies (previously Salter) is the founder and Musical Director of RoundHouse Music. She is an Associate of the The Guildhall School of Music & Drama (AGSM) and has over forty years of teaching experience with an outstanding record of examination successes from her pupils, some of whom have gone on to higher education and careers in music.

During the course of teaching, Felicity also founded the Round House Music group that not only provides an opportunity for instrumentalists to play together but also perform in local concerts.

Professionally, Felicity has in her distinguished career led the Newbury Symphony Orchestra, the oldest amateur orchestra in the country, and continues an active part in that orchestra and many other local musical activities.

Music Group Activities

Supporting individual lessons there is a Saturday afternoon Music Group, organised by level of playing ability. These groups provide an excellent opportunity to play with others and benefit from playing in a mixed ability group. These groups are open to all string players, of all ages, not just violins and violas.

About the Music Group

Starting at 13:50 on a Saturday there are two sessions. The first session is primarily focused on beginners up to Grade 3. The second session that starts at 15:10 is intended for the more advanced and experienced players. The content of each session reflects the ability of the group members.

The first group is £7.50 per 1 hour session. The second group is £10.00 for a 2 hour session. Payments may be made by cheque or direct bank transfer.

There is usually an end of term concert allowing all players to participate and enjoy performing for their family and friends. Other opportunities arise, from time to time, to play at local events throughout the year.

Please contact us for more information.

Payment Options

Fees are £20.00 per 30 minute lesson. All fees are payable upon completion of each lesson unless other arrangements have been mutually agreed. These can include monthly payment, payment by bank direct credit transfer.

Payment by Cheque or Credit Transfer

Cheques should be made payable to Mrs Felicity Fratter-Davies.

Payment by Direct Bank Transfer

If you wish to pay by direct bank transfer please ask me for bank details. In the event that you pay by bank transfer please drop me an e-mail after payment so that I can reconcile your payment against my record of lessons as the detail provided by the bank is often less than informative of which lesson it applied to.
